1. ‼️ Endangered Species: Orangutans face the harsh reality of being critically endangered. Their existence is threatened by habitat loss, poaching, and specially the palm oil industry, making conservation efforts crucial. Shockingly, only around 100,000 Bornean orangutans remain in the wild. Their population dwindles due to deforestation, leaving them vulnerable to extinction. Support and awareness are key to ensuring their survival.

2. 🌳 Sanctuary of Hope: all over the island there’s sanctuaries providing a haven for these majestic beings. Organizations like @sepilokorangutan , where this photos were taken, dedicate themselves to rescue, rehabilitate, and release orangutans back into the wild on the Malasyia rainforest

3. 🤗 Family Bonds: Orangutans are not only skilled climbers but also nurturing parents. Females invest years in raising their offspring, teaching them vital survival skills.
Beyond their impressive physical capabilities, orangutans exhibit remarkable emotional intelligence. They express joy, sadness, and curiosity, forming intricate social bonds that underscore their sentient nature.

4. 🧠 Clever Minds and Quirky Habits: They exhibit tool use, problem-solving skills, and even create cozy leaf umbrellas for rain protection. Their ingenuity showcases the depth of their cognitive abilities.

5. 🌿 **Forest Gardeners:** Orangutans play a crucial role as "gardeners" of the forest. Their diet includes various fruits, and by dispersing seeds through their travels, they contribute significantly to the forest's regeneration.

Costa Rica, 2019 🇨🇷

When I was 16 years old there wasn't social media as we know it today. Instead there was some platforms like Metroflog, MySpace and, if you were in Spain, Tuenti. A sort of Facebook for the young audience back then.

I remember how, in a moment where I did not know myself at all, my first artistic decision on those sites was to share landscapes I consider to be awesome. Every week I look into internet, specially National Geographic and pages alike to share places my mind did not even consider to be possible.

With every landscape that I posted, I wrote a tiny bit about it. I still remember the feeling of how impossible seemed to me to be on those locations. That instinct is definitely one of the reasons (if not the main one) why for all this years I had looked any chance to get outside, explore the world while I can and snap as many pictures as possible. It's the same idea that fuels me to do that at night, in the early morning, in freezing cold or whatever other circumstance just to get a unique moment.

I look back now and I realise how that post started the path I'm in. It was on Costa Rica, during the first trip that allowed myself to create without demands, not for a client, not for project... On this journey I took the first landscape photos that would make my younger self wonder with that feeling.

This amazing animals are the emblem of Australia. But, how much do you really know about them? Let's start with the basic: they are marsupials, a branch of mammals with a unique difference on the early-stage development of their offspring, which they complete within the marsupial pouch. Unlike placental mammals, where fetal development is more extensive before birth. So, while all kangaroos are mammals, not all mammals are marsupials.

Here goes 6 more characteristics about them!

🐾 Theropod Heritage: Kangaroos, in a surprising evolutionary connection, share lineage with dinosaurs, positioning them as modern-day theropods. Other theropods are Wallabies, Quokkas, Pademelon, Walaroos, Tree Kangaroos and Rock Wallabies.

🎒Marsupial Pouch: More than a mere anatomical refuge, the marsupial pouch of female kangaroos is a biological wonder. It acts as a protective sanctuary where the young are nurtured and sheltered, showcasing a remarkable adaptation for efficient nurturing.

👟 Economy of Hops: The distinctive locomotion of kangaroos, marked by expansive hops, is not just a visual spectacle but an example of energy efficiency. Jumping long distances is less demanding than continuous walking.

🍎 Dietary Eclecticism: Contrary to the common perception of exclusive herbivores, some kangaroo species exhibit a surprisingly varied diet, including flowers, fruits, and even fungi. This dietary versatility adds complexity to their ecological role in various habitats.

🧠 Intelligence and Adaptability: Often underestimated, kangaroos display notable cognitive abilities and unique adaptability. This balance of mental agility and physical prowess positions them prominently in the animal kingdom.

Belgium, 2021 🇧🇪

Architectural photography is one of the trickiest subjects. Capturing the intricate details, lines, shapes and textures of buildings is not an easy feat, requires a deep understanding of spacial principles and a keen eye for beauty and essence in a structure. 🏠📸

Composition and lighting play a crucial role but, in the end, it's all about the lines. The same way a pillar gives stability to a building, your composition gives direction and reading to your photo. To do so, wide-angle lenses are the most common tool to capture the wide views and the sense of scale so anything below 24mm would be ideal.

This 8 pictures are some of the most effective ways to make your architecture photography worth it:

1️⃣＆2️⃣ Depth 👓
Compose with elements at different distances to make it three-dimensional, and the use of different patterns to guide the viewers eye from one point to the frame to the main subject.

3️⃣＆4️⃣ Verticality 📈
On this particular field nothing is most important than your vertical lines. There's even tilt-shift lenses that help you correct perspective distortions and ensure accurate representation of the architecture. This gives a sense of stability and grandeur.

5️⃣ Patterns ＃
City architecture is all about repetition, in some way or another. And this is the perfect example of why a telephoto lens can be also the perfect gear to capture a city.

6️⃣ Details 🔎
Starting from what size is considered architecture? Exactly. There is no answer, so don't forget smaller ornaments are also structural. Another great reason to carry a longer focal length in your backpack

7️⃣ Think outside the box! 💭🤔
Most of this rules are really effective but sometimes you can apply it by taking a step back or looking down instead of up could make a more appealing story

Borneo, Malaysia 2023 🇲🇾🐘

Pygmy elephants are a majestic species only found in Borneo, currently facing numerous challenges threatening their existence. ⚠️

These extraordinary creatures are famous for their smaller size in comparison to other elephant species and relatively larger ears compared to the asian counterparts, longer tails, and straighter tusks. Despite their smaller stature, they are full-fledged elephants and exhibit the same intelligence and social structure as their larger relatives. 🧠💭

Deforestation and palm farm expansion have caused elephant habitats to be fragmented. This has led to conflicts between elephants and humans, as the elephants often enter villages and plantations in search of food. Our campground on the Kinabatangan river experienced two elephant incursions in recent months, resulting in significant damage to cabins and common areas.

Another peril that threatens pygmy elephants is poaching. The demand for elephant ivory and the illegal wildlife trade pose a grave risk to their population. It is imperative to implement stringent conservation efforts and anti-poaching measures to combat this issue and safeguard these endangered species.

Ongoing efforts are being made to preserve pygmy elephants and their habitats by working with local communities to establish protected areas and promote sustainable land use and tourism. I was able to get this series only thanks to the guides on my campsite, that work hard protecting the habitat and searching for the true wildlife in their area, like orangutans. Their dedication is incredible 💚

Educating the public and the tourist about the importance of these animals can encourage support for conservation initiatives and reduce conflicts between humans and wildlife

As a photographer, there’s key moments that one tends to always remember. Your first drone flight is one of those. 🚁

The inaugural drone flight it's a mixture of nerves, excitement and a pinch of fear. Who can forget the adrenaline rush, the whirring of the propellers, and that first ascent into the unknown? It's a moment that stays with you, a blend of technical prowess and a touch of courage.

At Butrón Castle, although not my initial flight, was the first time I did took a pause to use it as a proper camera. Working compositions and taking my time to explore this medieval marvel that whispers tales of the past from the ground. But from above? It transforms into an epic saga, an architectural dance frozen in time.

This little propelled friend is not just a gadget; it's a storyteller, revealing hidden narratives 🔎📝

New shapes, symmetry and asymmetry meets, and the whole idea of what you knew abut a castle transforms.

Mastering the art of drone flight isn't just about the technicalities; it's about infusing emotion into a story. A mood to a narration. It's about feeling the heartbeat of a place.

New Zealand is renowned for its unique and diverse wildlife, particularly its bird species. The country is home to a variety of endemic birds that can be found nowhere else in the world. They evolved in isolation, resulting in their distinct characteristics and behaviors. This are 8 of the most unique birds I'll ever photograph:

1. Korimako: The bellbird is a small songbird that is known for its beautiful and melodious call. It has a vibrant green and yellow plumage and is often found in native forests.

2. Tui: This beautiful songbird is known for its complex vocalizations. It has a unique plumage with iridescent feathers and a white tuft at its throat. Maori consider them the forest's guardians.

3. Kiwi: The most iconic bird flightless bird. They are nocturnal and extremely shy, so sightings are extremely rare. It is a symbol of New Zealand and highly valued for its cultural significance.

4. Kea: the most intelligent bird in the world! This mischievous bird is native to the alpine regions of the South Island. It is known for its curiosity and ability to problem-solve.

5. Kakapo: The kakapo is a critically endangered bird and the world's only flightless parrot. It is known for its nocturnal habits, distinctive moss-green plumage, and ability to climb trees.

6. Takahe: the oldest flightless bird. Only 500 remains. Takahe is a rare bird species and is considered a symbol of conservation efforts in New Zealand.

7. Kereru: the New Zealand pigeon, is a unique bird species. The Kereru bird can sometimes get drunk from eating fermented fruits, like those from the karaka tree. This behavior is a natural part of their diet and does not harm the bird.

8. Kaka is a large and colorful parrot species. Known for its playful and intelligent nature, often seen hanging upside down from tree branches.

This is just a glimpse of the unique wildlife that can be found in New Zealand.

How important is touch? 🤲

We often say that eyes are the window to the soul, but we could relate as well with our hands. How we hold things, the delicacy we use, our fingers going soft over a new texture...

People relate to people and by framing just the the action of being in contact with something we create a photography with instant connection to the audience. The emotion it creates just by the mere fact of using touch as the subject.

This 5 photos are a collection of my favorites ones. Each of those have a special story behind it but it's the human factor on the use of touch what makes them relatable. Also, in a technical aspect, they provide a clear focus point for attention and makes them easy to read.

Pingüinos de Phillip Island 🐧

¿Cuál es tu favorita? ¡La mía es la última!

A 140km al sur de Melbourne se encuentra Phillip Island, hogar de una famosa colonia de pingüinos azules, la especie más pequeña de pingüinos y se caracterizan por su plumaje azul y blanco. Son nativos de Australia y Nueva Zelanda.

Todos los días al atardecer los adultos regresan después de un largo día cazando en alta mar y arriesgarse la vida entre las focas de Seal Rocks y tiburones blancos. Todo ello para regresar a la costa con comida para sus crías, las cuáles esperan en pequeñas madrigueras en la playa.

La tercera foto es uno de los jóvenes pingüinos aún con el pelaje característico, antes de perderlo y ser independiente por si mismo.

Si estás por la zona de Melbourne o Victoria, acercarse a la Penguins Parade sería una de mis recomendaciones imprescindibles para conocer la impresionante biodiversidad de la zona.

Capuchin monkey 🙊🙉🙈

De todos los encuentros que he tenido con vida salvaje, mi favorita de largo fue el encuentro con los monos capuchinos. Estos pequeños seres habitan casi en la totalidad de Costa Rica, y en el parque natural de Cahuita campan a sus anchas junto con mapaches, monos titi y monos aulladores.

No se lo van a pensar dos veces en acercarse a pedirte comida, o incluso a escalarte por la ropa e intentar abrir las mochilas por si solos. Pero lo que más me llamo la atención fue la gestualidad que tienen. Capaces de fruncir el ceño para mostrar enfado 😡, sonreír 😃, y abrir la boca cuando se asombran 😱

Algo tiene su mirada que, por momentos, te hace olvidar que es un animal y piensas que es una pequeña persona.

Macro stills, 2021 🌸

Es fácil vivir en automático. Nuestra mente esta prácticamente diseñada para ello. Uno sigue moviéndose por inercia, el próximo turno de trabajo, la próxima cita, compra, viaje, sesión de gimnasio… Mientras siga habiendo algo, seguimos hacia delante.

En este mundo de constante movimiento, a menudo, nos olvidamos de la importancia de parar. Parar todo. Tirar del freno de mano. Porque en el momento que paramos, dejas de huir de todas las cosas de las que no había tiempo para pensar. Y eso da miedo, no sabemos que hacer. Cuando no hay nada por delante, solo puedes mirar atrás. Y empezar a saborear cada sensación, a mirar de cerca cada idea que dabas por sentado.

Pero es en la calma donde encontramos claridad. En la observación, profundidad. Y en el proceso de detenerse, uno se reconecta con el mundo. Ves, escuchas, sientes. Tienes tiempo de fijarte los detalles, como la delicada danza entre luz y sombras de estas fotos que solo pueden apreciar los que se detienen.

Relaciono mucho la lente macro a parar. No puedes tomarlo con prisas, no puedes tener nada por delante. Es una invitación a frenar, observar, acercarse, probar y escucharse.

[ENG] Few countries have left me with such a feeling of being the property of nature. There’s people living there, but the true owner of everything is the jungle. The place with the greatest biodiversity in the world (3% of the world’s total) makes it impossible for you not to see, hear or feel some way of life around you at all times. These are some of my favorites photos.

[ESP] Pocos países me han dejado con tal sensación de ser propiedad de la naturaleza. Hay gente viviendo allí, pero la dueña de todo es la selva. El lugar con mayor biodiversidad del mundo (el 3% del total mundial) hace imposible que no veas, escuches o sientas alguna forma de vida a tu alrededor en todo momento. Estas son algunas de mis fotos favoritas.
